The fabric, inspired by the inheritance of Magu, presents Jacquard Weaving Hahled locally in Cape Town, adorned with reasons that celebrate the wealth of collaboration.
A charitable effort
The highlight of the night was an exclusive auction for the custom couch, the first of a limited collection of 14 editions. This unique piece came with an specially designed canvas bag from Magu, and all income will support the tertiary education of Samuel Mofokeng, a promising design student of The Design Time: School of Interior Design. This philanthropic gesture not only underlines the commitment of the brands to promote the next generation of creative talent, but also illustrates the deep impact design that it can have in the communities.
The launch took place in Magu House, the designer's first physical exhibition room, which provided an ideal canvas to show this collaboration. In particular, the historical residence of 1931, with its expansive land, exhibited the distinctive furniture of Weylandts, which were perfectly integrated with the latest collection of Maguug heritage capsules. As a result, the space personified a harmonious mixture of iconic design and crafts, celebrating the richness of African heritage along with contemporary aesthetics.
