Wednesday’s weather: Brace for heatwaves, sweltering temperatures in at least 2 provinces | News24



Heatwaves and hot weather expected in the Eastern Cape and Western Cape.

The heatwave in the Eastern Cape is expected to last until Saturday, with places in the Western Cape following suit with scorching temperatures, according to the South African Weather Service.

Fire danger warning

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Central Karoo, Little Karoo, Cape Winelands, Cederberg and Swellendam municipalities in the Western Cape, as well as the Kamiesberg and Hantam districts in the Northern Cape.

Advisories

A heatwave is expected to continue until Saturday with persistently high temperatures in places over the Sarah Baartman and Chris Hani district municipalities, as well as the Raymond Mhlaba and Amahlathi local municipalities in the Eastern Cape.

Extremely uncomfortable and very hot conditions are expected in places over the Western Cape (mainly the interior) from Wednesday until Friday.

The western half of the Eastern Cape will be warm to hot along the coast.

Otherwise, partly cloudy to cloudy conditions and hot to very hot temperatures are forecasted with isolated afternoon thundershowers but scattered in the north.

Extremely hot conditions are expected in places over the interior.

The wind along the coast will be a moderate to fresh easterly reaching strong east of Algoa Bay in the afternoon, becoming a moderate to fresh south-westerly west of Cape St Francis in the afternoon, spreading eastwards.

Fine to partly cloudy conditions and hot to very hot temperatures are expected in the eastern half of the province.

Isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers are forecasted in the extreme west and along the eastern escarpment.

The wind along the coast will be a moderate to fresh north-easterly.

KwaZulu-Natal will have morning fog over the interior.

Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy with warm temperatures.

Isolated showers and rain are expected in the north-east.

The wind along the coast will be a moderate to fresh easterly to north-easterly.
