Tuesday’s weather: High temperatures forecast for large parts of SA as heatwave persists | News24



Persistently high temperatures are forecast for large parts of the country.

High temperatures are expected across several provinces as the South African Weather Service warns of persistent heatwave conditions. 

Impact-based warning: 

A Yellow Level 1 warning has been issued for damaging winds that will result in difficulty in navigation at sea between Table Bay and Plettenberg Bay in the Western Cape. 

Fire danger warnings: 

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in places over the Northern Cape, Limpopo Valley and the northern parts of the Limpopo Lowveld.

Advisory:

Heatwave conditions with persistently high temperatures are expected in Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, over the western half of KwaZulu-Natal as well as the eastern and central parts of the Free State and North West until Friday.

Similar conditions are expected over the western interior of the Eastern Cape until Wednesday.

Gauteng will be partly cloudy and hot with isolated showers and thundershowers from the afternoon.

The expected UVB sunburn index is extreme. 

It will be extremely hot on the Lowveld of the Northern Cape, otherwise it will be partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers.

Limpopo can expect partly cloudy and hot to extremely hot conditions with isolated thundershowers from the afternoon, except in the extreme north-eastern part of the Lowveld.

The North West will be partly cloudy and hot to extremely hot with isolated showers and thundershowers in the eastern parts of the province.

It will be partly cloudy and hot with isolated showers and thundershowers in the eastern parts of the Free State

Partly cloudy and warm to hot conditions are expected in the Northern Cape, with windy conditions over the southern parts.

The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south-westerly.

It will be partly cloudy to cloudy with morning light rain over the Western Cape’s mountainous regions, becoming fine to partly cloudy and cool to warm in the afternoon.

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-westerly to westerly but strong to gale force along the south-west coast, moderating in the evening.

The expected UVB sunburn index is high.

Cloudy conditions are expected for the western half of the Eastern Cape with isolated showers in the morning, otherwise it will be fine and hot but cool along the coast.

The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south-westerly.

It will be fine and hot but warm along the coast in the eastern half of the province, becoming cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers.

The wind along the coast will be light south-westerly, becoming easterly in the afternoon.

KwaZulu-Natal is set to be partly cloudy and hot, but extremely hot in the north with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers.

The wind along the coast will be moderate north-easterly, becoming moderate to fresh south-westerly from the south from mid-morning, spreading northwards.

The expected UVB sunburn index is extreme.
