Thursday’s weather: Warm to hot and partly cloudy conditions for most of SA, with isolated thunderstorms | News24



Partly cloudy and warm to hot conditions expected across parts of SA.

The South African Weather Service forecasts heatwave conditions for parts of the North West, Free State and Northern Cape. Partly cloudy and warm to hot conditions are expected across the rest of the country.

Fire danger warning

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in places over the Northern Cape, the western parts of the North West and the Free State.

Advisory

Heatwave conditions resulting in persistently high temperatures over and above the average maximum are expected over the western parts of the North West province, western and central parts of the Free State, and the eastern parts of the Northern Cape until Saturday.

Gauteng will be partly cloudy and warm but hot in the extreme north with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers.

Partly cloudy and warm to hot conditions are forecast for Mpumalanga, becoming cloudy in the east in the afternoon with isolated showers and thundershowers.

Limpopo will be partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers in the south-west in the evening.

Fine and hot to very hot conditions are expected in the North West, becoming partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers.

The forecast for Free State is fine and hot to very hot, becoming partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers in the north-east.

Fine and warm to hot but very hot conditions are expected in the south-eastern Northern Cape, becoming partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers in the north-east, where it will be extremely hot.

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly, and strong in the afternoon.

Partly cloudy conditions are expected in the southern parts of the Western Cape, with otherwise fine and cool to warm but hot to very hot conditions over the interior.

The wind along the coast will be strong southerly to south-easterly but light to moderate easterly to south-easterly along the south coast in the morning.

The expected UVB sunburn index is extreme.

The Eastern Cape will experience cloudy conditions with morning fog in places of the western half of the province, becoming partly cloudy with warm but fine conditions in the north-east. The eastern half of the province will be cloudy with cool to warm conditions and rain south of the escarpment. It will be partly cloudy north of the escarpment with isolated thunderstorms along the Lesotho border.

The wind along the coast will be light south-westerly, becoming moderate and south-easterly by afternoon.

Cloudy and warm conditions with isolated showers and thundershowers are expected in KwaZulu-Natal, with scattered showers in the west.

The wind along the coast will be a moderate northerly to north-easterly north of Durban, otherwise a moderate to fresh southerly to south-westerly.
