Thursday’s weather: Partly cloudy conditions, warm to hot temperatures for start of February | News24



Partly cloudy with warm to hot temperatures are expected for most of the country.

The South
African Weather Service
 has forecasted partly cloudy conditions
with warm to hot temperatures for the start of the new month. 

This as the Eastern Cape’s
heatwave and the Western Cape’s sweltering temperatures continue.

Fire danger warnings

Extremely high fire danger
conditions are expected over the western parts of the Northern Cape and Western
Cape.

Advisories

The heatwave is expected to
continue until Saturday with persistently high temperatures in places over the Sarah
Baartman and Chris Hani district municipalities, as well as the Raymond Mhlaba
and Amahlathi local municipalities in the Eastern Cape.

Extremely uncomfortable and very
hot conditions are expected in places over the Western Cape in mainly the
interior until Friday.

Gauteng is expected to be partly cloudy
and warm.

The expected UVB sunburn index
is extreme.

Cloudy conditions are forecasted
in east Mpumalanga at first.

A chance of morning drizzle
along the escarpment is expected, where it will be cool with a chance of light
rain from the evening.

Otherwise, it will be partly
cloudy with warm temperatures.

Limpopo can expect cloudy
conditions at times in the east with a chance of light showers and rain in
places on the Lowveld and Limpopo Valley.

Otherwise, partly cloudy
conditions and warm temperatures are forecasted.

It will be hot in places in the
western Bushveld.

Partly cloudy and warm to hot
temperatures are forecasted for the North West, with isolated
afternoon showers and thundershowers in the west.

The Free State is
expected to be partly cloudy with warm to hot conditions.

Isolated afternoon showers and
thundershowers are expected in the west.

Very hot temperatures are
expected in the north of the Northern Cape.

Otherwise, partly cloudy
conditions and warm to hot but very hot temperatures are forecasted in the
north.

Isolated showers and
thundershowers are expected, except in the west of the province.

The wind along the coast will be
light and variable in the morning, becoming fresh south-westerly in the
afternoon.

The Western Cape will
be partly cloudy and warm in the east and south.

Otherwise, fine conditions and
hot but very hot to extremely hot temperatures are forecasted in places over
the West Coast District.

Isolated showers and
thundershowers are expected over the north-eastern interior by the evening.

The wind along the coast will be
a strong south-easterly along the south-western coast.

Otherwise, a light to moderate
southerly to south-easterly reaching fresh at times is expected, becoming a
light to moderate westerly to south-westerly east of Stilbaai from the late
morning.

The expected UVB sunburn index
is extreme.

Cloudy and warm temperatures are
forecasted at first along the coast for the western half of the Eastern
Cape
.

Otherwise, partly cloudy, and
hot to very hot temperatures are expected with isolated showers and
thundershowers in places over the western and northern parts.

The wind along the coast will be
a moderate to fresh south-westerly, becoming easterly in the afternoon and
reaching strong in places.

The eastern half of the province
will have morning fog in places south of the escarpment.

Otherwise, fine conditions and
warm to hot temperatures are forecasted, becoming partly cloudy in the
afternoon with isolated thunderstorms in the north.

The wind along the coast will be
a moderate to fresh north-easterly, becoming strong in places.

KwaZulu-Natal will have morning fog over
the interior.

Otherwise, it will be partly
cloudy and warm but hot in places in the north.

Isolated showers and rain are
expected in the north-east.

The wind along the coast will be
a moderate to fresh easterly to north-easterly.
