The South African Weather Service says it will be fine and warm to partly cloudy and hot with scattered showers.

Sprinkle in a chance of severe thunderstorms and heatwaves expected in at least four provinces and that is your Saturday weather. 

Impact-based warnings 

A Yellow Level 2 warning has been issued for severe thunderstorms over the southern parts of the Free State and northern interior of the Eastern Cape.

Expect gusting winds, large amounts of small hail and heavy downpours leading to damage of infrastructure, formal/informal settlements, and localised flooding in low lying areas and roads.

Fire danger warnings

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Northern Cape, the west of the North West and central and western parts of the Free State and over the Dr Beyers Naude local municipality in the Eastern Cape.

Advisories

Heatwave conditions resulting in persistently high temperatures are expected in places in the east of the Northern Cape, North West and Free State, except in the extreme east until Saturday.

Gauteng can expect partly cloudy and warm temperatures with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers, except in the extreme north where it will be hot.

It will be cloudy over the Highveld of Mpumalanga in the morning and evening.

Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and hot with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers over the Highveld.

Limpopo will be cloudy in the east in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot conditions are expected.

It will be fine in the east at first in the North West.

Otherwise, partly cloudy, and hot to very hot temperatures are expected, with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the south-west.

The Free State can expect fine conditions in the east at first.

Otherwise, partly cloudy, and warm to hot temperatures, with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers are forecasted, but scattered in the central and western parts.

It will be windy in the extreme south.

Partly cloudy, windy, and hot to very hot conditions are expected in the Northern Cape, with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the extreme north-east.

It will be warm in places over the central parts.

The wind along the coast will be a moderate to fresh south-westerly, becoming light in the evening.

The Western Cape can expect partly cloudy and cool to warm conditions in the west.

Isolated to scattered rain and showers are expected over the south-western parts from the afternoon where it will be cloudy.

Otherwise, fine conditions and warm to hot weather is forecasted over the interior.

It will become cloudy along the south coast by the evening.

The wind along the coast will be a moderate to fresh north-westerly but strong in the south-west becoming south-westerly in the evening.

The expected UVB sunburn index is moderate.

Cloudy with morning fog in places along the coast is expected in the western half of the Eastern Cape.

Otherwise, partly cloudy, and very hot to extremely hot temperatures are forecast with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers but scattered in the north.

The wind along the coast will be a moderate to fresh south-westerly.

Partly cloudy and hot to very hot conditions with scattered afternoon showers and thundershowers is expected for the eastern half of the province but isolated in places in the south-west.

The wind along the coast will be a fresh south-westerly, but strong at times.

KwaZulu-Natal will be partly cloudy with hot to very hot temperatures and scattered afternoon showers and thundershowers in the west.

Otherwise, isolated showers are forecasted, except in the north-east.

The wind along the coast will be a moderate to fresh north-easterly, becoming strong to near gale in the north of Durban in the afternoon.
