Partly cloudy and warm conditions are forecast for most of SA.

Partly cloudy and warm conditions are forecast for most of the country, with cool temperatures and isolated showers but widespread to scattered thundershowers in other areas, according to the South African Weather Service

Impact-based warnings

A Yellow Level 4 warning has been issued for severe thunderstorms leading to flooding of roads, settlements, and low-lying areas, resulting in closure of some bridges and roads over the central parts of the Northern Cape, western parts of the Free State, and the North West. 

Disruptive rain leading to flooding of roads, low-lying bridges, and formal/informal settlements are expected along the south coast and adjacent interior of the Western Cape. 

A Yellow Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms with possible flash flooding and isolated structural damage is expected over the extreme northern interior of the Western Cape and the extreme south-western region of the Northern Cape.

Expect Gauteng to be partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers.

The expected UVB sunburn index is extreme.

Cloudy in places on the highveld with fog patches along the escarpment in the morning is forecast for Mpumalanga, otherwise partly cloudy and cool conditions with isolated afternoon thundershowers on the highveld. The temperatures will be warm in the lowveld.

Limpopo will be cloudy in places in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and warm temperatures are expected.

Partly cloudy to cloudy and warm temperatures are forecast for the North West, with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered to widespread in the west of the province.

The Free State can expect cloudy and cool to warm conditions with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers, but widespread over the western parts of the province.

Cloudy and warm to hot temperatures, with widespread to scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the east are forecast for the Northern Cape.

The wind along the coast will be a light to moderate north-westerly from the afternoon.

The Western Cape will be partly cloudy with cool to warm temperatures and scattered to widespread showers and thundershowers over the eastern parts of the province but isolated in the south-west.

Heavy rainfall can be expected along the south coast and adjacent interior from the afternoon, with possible severe thunderstorms in the West Coast and the Central Karoo.

The wind along the coast will be a light to moderate north-westerly along the west coast from the evening, otherwise a fresh to strong south-easterly.

The expected UVB sunburn index is very high.

Expect the western half of the Eastern Cape to be partly cloudy with warm to hot conditions, with scattered showers and thundershowers, but widespread in the west and central interior of the province.

The wind along the coast will be a light to moderate south-westerly at first, otherwise a fresh easterly, but light west of Cape St Francis.

Fine in places at first is the forecast for the eastern half of the province, otherwise cloudy and warm temperatures with widespread showers and thundershowers, but scattered along the coast and adjacent interior.

The wind along the coast will be a moderate to fresh north-easterly, but strong in some places.

Morning fog over the interior is expected in KwaZulu-Natal, otherwise partly cloudy and warm conditions with scattered showers and thundershowers in the south of the province, otherwise isolated except in the north-east.

The wind along the coast will be a moderate to fresh easterly to north-easterly.

The expected UVB sunburn index is extreme.
