The South African Weather Service predicted partly cloudy and hot to warm temperatures, with isolated rain and thunderstorms, for multiple regions, except over the central and western parts, where the rain will be scattered.

Impact-based warnings

There are yellow Level 2 and Level 4 warnings for severe thunderstorms, with strong, damaging winds and excessive lighting, heavy downpours and possible large amount of small hail, resulting in the flooding of roads, structural damage to infrastructure or settlements (formal and informal), injuries and danger to life, and disruption of municipal and other essential services, in places over the western and eastern parts of the Northern Cape, the north-eastern parts of the Western Cape, the western parts of the Free State and North West.

A yellow Level 1 warning was issued for damaging winds and waves, resulting in small vessels taking on water and difficulty in navigation, offshore between Ngqushwa and Port Edward.

The weather in your region

Gauteng will have morning fog in places, otherwise partly cloudy and warm temperatures, with isolated showers and thundershowers, are expected.

The expected UVB sunburn index is high.

It will be cloudy along the escarpment, with morning drizzle and fog patches in Mpumalanga and Limpopo, otherwise there will be partly cloudy and cool to warm conditions, with isolated showers and thundershowers.

It will be hot in the Lowveld.

The North West and the Free State will have morning fog in the east, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm to hot temperatures are expected, with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered over the western parts.

The Northern Cape will be partly cloudy, with cool to warm conditions and scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the extreme north-west.

The wind along the coast will be a moderate to fresh southerly to south-westerly.

Cloudy conditions are expected in the Western Cape, otherwise it will be partly cloudy and cool to warm, with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers.

The wind along the coast will be light and variable, but a light to moderate south to south-westerly is expected over the western and southern parts.

The expected UVB sunburn index is very high.

The western half of the Eastern Cape will be cloudy, with morning fog along the coast and adjacent interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot temperatures, with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered over the interior.

The wind along the coast will be a moderate to fresh westerly, but light and variable in places from the afternoon.

It will become a fresh north-easterly from late afternoon.

There will be morning fog in places south of the escarpment over the eastern half of the province, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot conditions are forecast, with isolated showers and thundershowers, over the interior from the afternoon.

The wind along the coast will be a moderate to fresh north-easterly, becoming strong in the afternoon.

KwaZulu-Natal will be partly cloudy in the north-east, otherwise cloudy and warm conditions are expected, with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers in the west and the north.

The wind along the coast will be a moderate to fresh easterly to north-easterly, becoming strong in the extreme south by the afternoon.
