Bride & Co presents Threads of Heritage, a unique bridal service that allows brides, grooms and guests to add a touch of South African heritage to the classic Bride & Co designs on offer. This bold new project is a celebration of culture, diversity and inclusion. After two decades of being at the forefront of bridal design, Bride & Co presents a new era of ingenuity that rises to the occasion.

More than a wedding dress
Verona Dharman, COO of Bride & Co, quietly observed the growing trend of multiculturalism in modern wedding celebrations and recognized the opportunity to serve brides who have had to source both a traditional dress and a white wedding dress separately. Dharman and her team at Bride & Co. recognize that weddings are not just a union of two people, but also a union of two cultures. With Threads of Heritage, they have created a service that celebrates this union.
The service allows brides to select any dress from Bride & Co's selection and customize it with traditionally inspired fabrics, embellishments and details. The decorative pieces can also be removed and reused with other clothing, creating a timeless piece for any occasion. By incorporating traditional South African textiles, colors and embellishments into contemporary bridal silhouettes, the initiative aims to create dresses that combine modern elegance with cultural pride.
More than simply selecting a wedding dress, Threads of Heritage offers brides a personalized design experience that places cultural representation and storytelling at the center of the wedding journey.

Something old, something new
For 20 years, Bride & Co has offered the finest selection of bridal wear and occasion dresses to rent or buy with in-house tailoring and accessories. The Threads of Heritage service begins with the bride selecting her preferred dress from Bride & Co's offering, along with a selection of beading and fabrics from Bride & Co's Heritage Collection. From bold Zulu beading to vibrant Swati stripes and elegant Tswana prints, brides will have a personal stake in creating a dream wedding dress that honors their culture and personal history. During the consultation process, Bride & Co's alterations team works closely with each bride to determine how these elements will be incorporated into the design.
Traditional details can be integrated into sleeves, trains, veils or statement panels, allowing brides to honor tradition while maintaining the elegance of modern bridal design.
“Weddings are deeply personal and often rooted in tradition,” says marketing director Premika Jahbardan. “Threads of Heritage was created to allow brides to honor their culture while embracing a contemporary bridal aesthetic.”

Fit for tradition
The concept also extends beyond the bride and bridesmaids. Grooms who purchase suits from Eurosuit can incorporate coordinating heritage-inspired details, such as lapel detailing, pocket squares or bow ties, creating a cohesive look that keeps the design contemporary while embracing cultural expression. Accents enhance a classic suit with color and individuality, suitable for both the groom and his guests.

A brand with heritage
Threads of Heritage could not have been executed without a deep respect and understanding of the diverse native cultures of southern Africa. In an era of awareness and consideration of the value of diversity, it takes a brand with a deep understanding of human-centered storytelling to treat African bridal fashion with the due care it deserves. Furthermore, with the rise of fast fashion websites taking up market share in recent years, it is the reinforcement of legacy that allows Bride & Co to enter this space with confidence and care.
With 20 years of organizing weddings for South Africans from all walks of life, Threads of Heritage is a testament to Bride & Co's status as a heritage and trailblazing brand. Firmly rooted in decades of world-class service, while evolving for an ever-changing market.
Throughout South Africa, traditions of love, marriage and femininity are expressed through fabrics, colors and decorations. Threads of Heritage translates these traditions into modern bridal design, offering brides the opportunity to celebrate their heritage in a way that feels authentic and elegant.
The result is a dress that reflects not only personal style, but also identity and cultural history.
