Friday’s weather: Rain for central, eastern regions but scorching conditions continue in the south | News24



Rain is expected in the central and eastern parts of the country on Friday.

Scattered to isolated showers and thundershowers are expected in the central and eastern parts of the country, while extremely hot temperatures continue for the south-western areas, according to the South African Weather Service.

Fire danger warnings

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in the central and southern parts of the Northern Cape, the eastern interior of the Western Cape, and in Sarah Baartman District Municipality and Raymond Mhlaba local municipality in the Eastern Cape.

Advisories

Extremely hot conditions are expected in the Kamiesberg local municipality in the Northern Cape, some parts of Cape Winelands, Central and Little Karoo in the Western Cape. 

A heatwave with persistently high temperatures is expected over the western parts of Chris Hani District Municipality, Dr Beyers Naude, Blue Crane Route, and Raymond Mhlaba local municipalities in the Eastern Cape.

The weather in your region

Gauteng will be warm but hot in the extreme north, with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers. The expected UVB sunburn index is very high.

Mpumalanga can expect cloudy conditions in the east with morning fog patches over the escarpment, but partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers on the Highveld.

The western Bushveld in Limpopo will be hot, while the eastern part of the province will be cloudy with morning fog patches over the escarpment.

Partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers conditions are expected in the extreme south. 

North West and Free State will be partly cloudy and hot with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers.

Morning fog is expected along the Northern Cape coast, but otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and warm to hot.

It will be very hot in the north, with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers over the central and eastern parts of the province.

The wind along the coast will be moderate southerly to south-westerly.

Western Cape will be cloudy with morning fog along the west and south coast, but fine and warm to hot for the rest of the day.

It will be very hot in central and little Karoo while the north-eastern parts can expect partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers.

The wind along the coast will be moderate southerly to south-westerly.

The western half of the Eastern Cape will be fine and warm but hot over the interior, where it will become partly cloudy with isolated afternoon thundershowers.

Evening fog is expected in places along the coast. The wind along the coast will be moderate south westerly.

The eastern half of the province will be fine and hot over the interior, but warm along the coast.

It will become partly cloudy along the escarpment and northern interior with isolated afternoon thunderstorms.

The wind along the coast will be moderate easterly to north-easterly.

KwaZulu-Natal will be partly cloudy with morning fog over the interior, but fine and warm for the rest of the day.

It will be partly cloudy in the afternoon with isolated showers and thundershowers in the west.

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh easterly to north-easterly.
