Friday’s weather: Another hot day in SA with morning fog in some parts | News24



It’s going to be a hot Friday for most of the country.

The heatwave continues in the country, with certain provinces advised of extremely hot and uncomfortable conditions, according to the South African Weather Service.

Impact-based warnings

A yellow level 1 warning has been issued for damaging winds that could result in difficulty in navigation at sea, disruption to ports, breaking mooring lines and dragging anchors between Cannon Rocks and Port Edward.

Fire danger warning

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the eastern parts of the Northern Cape, the north-eastern parts of the Western Cape, in places in the Eastern Cape as well as the western parts of the North West and the Free State.

Advisories

Extremely hot conditions (day temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius and above) are expected in places over the Central Karoo in the Western Cape.

Heatwave conditions resulting in persistently high temperatures above the average maximum expected over Gauteng and the eastern parts of North West on Saturday. This will include the Lowveld of Mpumalanga, Limpopo and Free State on Sunday, and persist up to at least Tuesday.

Morning fog patches can be expected along the escarpment of Mpumalanga, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm but hot in the Lowveld.

Limpopo will experience morning fog patches along the southern escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm.

It will be partly cloudy and warm to hot in the North West and the Free State

There will be morning fog along the coast of the Northern Cape, otherwise partly cloudy, windy and hot to very hot with isolated showers and thundershowers over the central parts.

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly.

The Western Cape will be cloudy along the coast in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot, but very hot in places over the interior. It will be extremely hot in places over the Central Karoo.

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh easterly along the south coast in the morning, otherwise moderate to fresh south-westerly. It will become strong along the south coast by afternoon.

The western half of the Eastern Cape will be extremely hot in places over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and very hot, but hot in places along the coast.

The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-westerly.

On the eastern half, it will be hot in places in the north and along the wild coast, otherwise fine and very hot, becoming partly cloudy along the coast in the afternoon.

The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong north-easterly, becoming light to moderate south-westerly in the afternoon.

KwaZulu-Natal will experience morning fog patches over the interior, otherwise fine and warm to hot. It will be partly cloudy in the extreme north.

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh easterly to north-easterly
