The Amber House has become Johannesburg's newest destination for refined taste, cultural art and an elevated sensory experience. Held from November 6 to December 14 at Oxford Parks, the pop-up signals Inverroche's confident step into the cultural vanguard of African luxury. This six-week experience transforms the brand's pioneering gin into a living expression of taste, art, connection and sound.
Luxury rooted in heritage
Inspired by Inverroche Amber Gin, Africa's first amber luxury spirit, The House of Amber reflects the brand's conscious luxury philosophy. The event brings this story to life through immersive sensory details, thoughtful collaborations and a curated selection of South African artistic talent. Every element has been deliberately considered, from its architectural character to its musical selection. The result is a multi-sensory destination that feels as social as it does sophisticated, bringing a fresh and vibrant presence to the Johannesburg experience.

Inaugurating the House alongside Lorna Scott, Nomzamo Mbatha, cultural curator of Inverroche, highlighted the significance of this moment. In her speech, she stated: “The proof of Amber's essence of luxury is in her spirit – her African spirit. Everything within this House is intentional and luxurious, from design to sound, flavors and feeling. It is culturally avant-garde, sensorial and deeply rooted in who we are. The House of Amber brings together culture, craftsmanship and connection and does so with unmistakable African confidence.”
The rhythm of refined taste
Open Thursday through Sunday, The House of Amber moves to the pulse of the city. Each night offers a distinctive gathering made up of local talent selected in association with Mayonie Productions, founded by Grammy Award winner Zakes Bantwini. The schedule changes weekly and will be revealed in advance.
Guests can expect the following weekly experiences:
- Acoustic Thursdays: Soft, soulful soundscapes, released with Sio, whose poetic storytelling creates an intimate atmosphere and invites meaningful connection.
- Friday Friends: The pace picks up with Mo-T, whose signature brass and contemporary jazz tone set the tone for the Amber Patio. The sound is smooth, refined and undeniably Joburg.
- Sound Saturdays: The energy of the weekend culminates with Zinny, celebrated among Afrotech listeners and perfectly aligned with a Saturday night experience.
- Sundays of sensations: a slower closing of the week, which invites a conscious celebration where refined living is combined with effortless urban charm.
Each curated session invites guests to encounter the unique pulse, flavor and personality of The House of Amber.
Luxury local collaborations
Inverroche continues to honor its values of innovation and sustainability through partnerships with South African brands that reflect conscious craftsmanship.
- The Joinery x House of Amber – A limited-edition collection of eco-felt mini and maxi bags created with FutureFelt®, a fabric produced from recycled plastic bottles collected locally.
- Fieldbar x House of Amber – A locally designed cooler with a House of Amber leather strap and premium finishes, created for conscious outdoor living.
- Jack Rabbit chocolates and 1701 nougat: two artisanal pastry chefs reinterpret Inverroche's botanical ingredients into bespoke luxury delights.
These collaborations reflect Inverroche's belief that luxury should be consciously crafted and deeply connected to place, a philosophy that began at Stilbaai and continues to define the brand.
Art and alchemy
The Just Short cocktail team has curated the House of Amber cocktail experience. Signature cocktails like Where There's Smoke, a spectacular terrarium-style creation, and Letters to Lorna, a tribute to founder Lorna Scott, transform every sip into storytelling.
Opening week favorites include Peach Please and Ambergroni. Guests can also purchase beautifully crafted bottles of Amber gin in-store, with a personalized engraving service available.
