Christians are being killed in Nigeria under President Tinubu

Christians are being killed in Nigeria, and Nigerian leaders are trying to deny the truth, despite overwhelming evidence and their obvious complicity.

Right now, Christians are being attacked by radical Muslims and are being systematically murdered.
We mourn the lost, but the killing continues. Armed men enter churches and kill the faithful. They invade Christian communities, commit abominable acts against women and kill people with absolute impunity. And yet, there are no arrests. We hear of cases where citizens manage to catch an attacker, only for the police to supposedly let him go.

If there is one undeniable truth, it is this: the Nigerian police force is one of the biggest problems we face. How can we call ourselves a country when the same government uses its police to oppress and intimidate the people? Police officers have become politicians' thugs. Our judicial system is hopelessly corrupt.

Our government and senior officials are densely populated by those who appear to believe in this act of killing people who do not share their religion. They are actively trying to silence Nigerians and deceive the world, claiming that these are mere “terrorist attacks” or “farmer-herdsman clashes”, instead of the truth: a direct and orchestrated attack on Christianity itself.

Nigerian Christians are dying. People are crying. They are killing shepherds. Church members are being massacred. The death toll is so devastating that in some areas coffins are no longer available, forcing families to bury their loved ones in simple wooden boxes. This is the tragic and heartbreaking reality.

And yet, when the conversation turns to international aid, especially from nations like the United States, we hear voices arguing against intervention. They warn that the United States should not help Nigeria because they would “steal Nigerian natural resources.” These people have no idea what Nigeria has really become thanks to these Islamic radicals. People are kidnapped and murdered, people are beheaded. They are kidnapping girls from schools. They are even kidnapping children and forcibly training them to be part of their terrorist groups.

The devastating truth is that our political class, the same people who brought some of this radical instability to the country, are the ones who truly enjoy the nation's wealth. Politicians share this wealth of resources with each other and with other countries through corrupt deals, while people suffer and die.

Tell me, why have Christians been dying for so long and nothing concrete has been done? Our judicial system is a mockery of justice. The government does not follow the law; they simply pay their way through legal challenges.

We are tired. We live in a country where human lives are valued less than resources. The government has become a gang of thugs, seizing people's property and tearing down houses just to clear the way for rich individuals to get their way, and nothing is done to stop them.

Our current leaders, whose election was marred by accusations of manipulation, are simply old, power-strangled men who continue to drag this nation down.

With the military and government densely populated by those who share the religious ideology of the attackers, it feels as if they are actively carrying out the will of their own religion rather than protecting all Nigerian citizens.

We are tired, heartbroken and feel completely betrayed. The intention is clear: kill all Christians until we can no longer worship outdoors.

Please, we beg you, pray for Nigeria. Pray for Christians who are being persecuted. Pray for light to break through this suffocating darkness.

We need the world to see the truth. We need the world to speak.

Christian and human rights organizations have compiled these figures, which paint a bleak picture.

Time period Group monitoring Estimate of Christians murdered (civilians) Context
2023 (October 2022 – September 2023) Open Doors (World Watch List) 4,118 They reported that 82% of all The 2023 global faith-related murders of Christians occurred right there in Nigeria. Just crazy.
2019 – 2023 Observatory of Religious Freedom in Africa (ORFA) 16,769 They broke it down and found that for every Muslim killed in the violence, 2.7 Christians were killed.
Since July 2009 Various Christian follow-up groups More than 50,000 This figure dates back to when the Islamist uprising by groups like Boko Haram really began.

Side note: Just remember, these are NGO estimates, not an “official” government count, and they all use slightly different ways to track deaths.

The violence is not everywhere, but it is absolutely brutal in key areas. It is primarily focused on the north-central region (the middle belt), but also on parts of the northeast and northwest.

Attacks are typically carried out by groups such as Boko Haram, ISWAP (Islamic State West Africa Province) and Fulani armed militants. While the Middle Belt often experiences clashes between Muslim herders and Christian farmers over land, all reports indicate that attacks on Christian villages are significantly motivated by religious factors.

Region of greatest concentration Key states are hit Who is attacking?
North-Central (Middle Belt) Plateau, kaduna, Benue, Nasarawa, Kogi Armed Fulani militias (herdsmen), bandits and other terrorist groups.
Northeast born, Yobe, Adamawa Boko Haram and ISWAP.
Northwest Kaduna, Zamfara Bandits, who focus on kidnapping and direct violence.

Plateau state: This state has been greatly affected. During the Christmas Eve weekend of 2023, for example, attacks on Christian villages were reported to have killed between 140 and 190 people. Simply heartbreaking.

Kaduna State: Violence is constant here, including the burning of residences of priests and seminarians, as well as attacks on Christian villages in the south.

Benue State: It has witnessed so many massacres of predominantly Christian farmers, which are usually attributed to armed herdsmen.

Here are the people who occupy high positions in Nigeria

I know people always say things like the United States has a reason to help any country, but how do you reconcile them helping without getting something? I mean, it's politics. And just so you know, Nigeria is not a hardworking country right now. So those who say they will disperse the country do not understand that our leaders have already dispersed it. Now what they are doing is killing Christians to turn it into a totally Muslim country. Christians are under attack. People cry and die. Spread the word and pray for Nigeria. If we protest they arrest and imprison us. Little by little they are taking away freedom of expression and the situation is deeply sad. The late President Buhari still has people he jailed for protesting during the EndSARS movement. President Tinubu keeps borrowing money and the Senate keeps approving it but nothing is done. I can't even continue. I need to stop here; Please pray for Nigeria.
