Denim on Denim: Styling a Denim Vest with a Cinched Waist for a Modern Look

Nowadays, I only take photos and review clothes that I really love. Comfort is always my priority, but denim has a special place in my wardrobe. Living in the UK where the weather can be unpredictable, denim has always served me well and still does.

I'm not just talking about jeans. I love exploring denim in different forms, like dresses or vests, and this outfit is no exception. I recently received this Blue Loose Casual Buttons Round Neck Sleeveless Waist Vest and Wide Leg Pants Denim Two Piece Set of know the fashion style.

What I immediately loved about this two-piece denim vest and flared pants is how easily it was transformed with heels. I added a pair of heels and voila! The look instantly went from office casual to elegant and formal, perfect for a professional meeting. You know what I mean, right?

The material feels lovely on the skin: soft, breathable and just the right weight for denim. However, I noticed a strong chemical smell when I first unpacked it. It could be due to pest treatments, dyes, or even formaldehyde (which some manufacturers use to prevent shrinkage). I'm no fabric expert, but whatever it was, the smell was pretty strong.

for a tip: Always wash new clothes before wearing them, no matter where you buy them, even if they are in a sealed package. Some chemicals are odorless, so they are better for your skin and health.

That being said, I really loved everything else about the set. The design is thoughtful and I think I designed it quite well, if I do say so myself.

What I loved about this two-piece set

  1. The color: Blue is vibrant and pairs wonderfully with neutral colors or pops of color.
  2. The adjustment: I felt like it was made for me. The waist fit perfectly, not too tight, but just right, and the overall look was very comfortable.
  3. The buttons: The button pattern added symmetry and elegance, giving the outfit a feminine touch.
  4. The flare: Wide-leg pants added drama to the look and kept it office-appropriate.

And can we talk about my accessories? Look at my bag! Many of you know that I love square bags and this one from River Island has appeared several times on my blog. The shoes were a thoughtful gift from my friend Ebube last December during the festive season.

Style options

While I love how I styled this outfit, I couldn't help but think of other ways to rock it. For example, pairing it with brown accessories like the model did would have been stunning. Still, I love my Black stretch bodysuit top with front zipper from Quiz Clothing, another of my favorites. I think I need to check if they have this top in more colors.

Taking these photos was a great pleasure. The sun shone beautifully on my skin and instantly lifted my mood. Oh how I miss the Nigerian sun! There's something about summer that makes me happy and carefree. The sun is my medicine and no one can ruin my vibe on sunny days.

As for my hair, I chose a headband because I'm thinking about taking out my braids this weekend (depending on my energy levels). My stylist always does a great job; I've been thinking about trying a simpler style for my next post. Maybe we can choose a new hairstyle together!

What do you think of this set? And me, sunbathing and radiating happiness? Let me know in the comments!
